Assistant Director of Financial Aid & Student Employment

Job Description

UW-Stout is actively recruiting for an Assistant Director of Financial Aid & Student Employment.

This position assists with the overall administration and compliance of aid programs and management of the Financial Aid Office staff. Primary responsibilities include management of the Student Employment and Federal Work Study programs. The Assistant Director will also serve as the back-up for the customer service staff. The successful candidate will also possess strong documented skills in the following areas: exceptional customer service, written and verbal communication, presentation skills, collaboration, and teamwork.

Candidates who have experience working collaboratively with a diverse range of people and who can contribute to the fostering a climate of inclusivity are encouraged to identify their experiences in these areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Work experience in higher education at a postsecondary level
  • Demonstrated experience working with an integrated student information system
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective supervisory experience

Highly Desired

  • Work experience within a financial aid office
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions
  • Experience with ImageNow/Perceptive Content or similar document management system/s
  • Experience with reconciliation of accounts

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the Federal Work Study, Student Employment and Job Location and Development programs
  • Supervise customer service and processing staff
  • Serve as back-up to the customer service and processing staff
  • Develop and deliver financial aid presentations on and off campus
  • Maintain office budget
  • Reconcile financial aid accounts
  • Update and maintain the Policy and Procedure manual
  • Deal with difficult or sensitive student or parent situations
  • Represent the Financial Aid and Student Employment Office in absence of the Director
  • Other duties as assigned.

A group of eleven individuals who pride themselves on working hard on behalf of Stout students. We are a team and help each other out and back each other up. We are comprised of veteran financial aid staff and some that are newer to this challenging and meaningful work.

Minimum starting salary of $59,300, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
