Position Summary

As a Retail Associate at The Clark, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the visitor experience by providing exceptional customer service and promoting the museum’s merchandise.

You will be part of a dynamic team that bridges the gap between art appreciation and retail sales.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Greet visitors warmly and assist them with inquiries related to merchandise, exhibitions, and museum facilities (including interactions via phone).
  • Provide personalized recommendations based on visitors’ interests and preferences.
  • Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Maintain an organized and visually appealing retail space.
  • Assist visitors in selecting and purchasing art-related products, including books, prints, postcards, and unique museum souvenirs.
  • Process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system.
  • Restock displays.
  • Develop an understanding of the museum’s collection, artists and exhibitions.
  • Stay informed about new arrivals and special promotions.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions.


Qualifications

  • A genuine interest in art, culture, and history.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly demeanor.
  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Required to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as needed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.


This is a part-time, non-benefitted position.

Minimum Starting Salary: $18.00/hr.

Education, Training, and Skills: High school education or equivalent preferred.

Work Experience: Minimum of 3 months' relevant experience preferred.

Work Environment:

  • Work will be performed in a retail store and museum spaces.
  • The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to high.
  • Working weekends and occasional evenings is required.
