Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The coordinator is responsible for the overall planning and implementation of outreach strategies for the recruitment of students and prospective external sites within the service delivery areas of Webb, Zapata and Jim Hogg Counties. The coordinator is responsible for providing support to faculty and program staff, records management and for providing potential students with information regarding ESL and High School Equivalency program enrollment and Career Pathways requirements. Must be willing to use own vehicle to travel to and from external sites. This is a grant funded position and must comply with all Texas Workforce Commission requirements.   

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

1. Initiates discussion with prospective external instructional sites and referral/support service agencies and provides leadership and outreach strategies for student recruitment, retention and attainment of external sites.
2. Assists in the development of curriculum and career pathways aligned with academic programs, including workforce preparation activities, digital literacy and workforce trainings.
3. Conducts verification of monthly reports, student records, utilizes TEAMS to manage student progression and collects external site data promptly.
4. Provides program oversight of distance learning instruction and technology integration. 
5. Maintains the Distance Learning Plan, ensures instructional staff meets PD requirements respective to Distance Learning and participates in the Community of Practice. 
6. Reviews and analyzes TEAMS progress reports and provides leadership with feedback pertaining to outcomes.  
7. Evaluates program instructors on an annual basis and provides feedback on professional development requirements 
8. Assist in the preparation of grant applications.  
9. Coordinates class schedules, orientation and testing and ensures substitute instructors are obtained to cover instructor absences.
10. Provides potential students with information regarding ESL and High School Equivalency programs.
11. Participates in professional developments as required by TWC and in Institutional Effectiveness activities.
12. Provides support to faculty and program staff.
13. Represents LC at informational fairs, orientations, etc. to present information about program and travels to external sites within the service delivery area.
14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Dean of Community Education, Associate Provost/Strategic & Collaborative Partnerships, Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs or President.

Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field of Business Administration, Communication, Psychology, Sociology or a closely related field to those listed. 
  • 3 years of work experience in an educational setting or in performing project management responsibilities. 
  • A valid Texas Driver’s License. 

Preferred:

  • 1 year experience working with adult learners in a post-secondary setting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of appropriate office procedures, telephone and office etiquette. 

  • Able to operate a calculator, photocopier, personal computer, and other office-related equipment.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in written form.

Physical Requirements  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.  

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
