Montgomery College, East County Education Center, has an immediate need for a Full-time Campus Cashier. Office of Business Services The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. There is the possibility of Saturday hours during peak enrollment periods. This position may require working on any of the four campuses. This is a Bargaining, Non-Exempt, Grade 17 position. Non-exempt positions are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Receives and processes tuition payments; enters payments into computerized recording system; adjusts student accounts; edits, updates, and corrects entries as required.
- Provides information regarding financial policies, procedures, balance due, and related matters to students and the general public and resolves customer service issues.
- Balances out and reconciles daily transactions; prepares bank deposits; maintains petty cash funds; and distributes paychecks.
- Opens/closes cashier station/office.
- Advise students, parents, and the general public on college-wide activities, courses, programs and services.
- Develop and maintain a broad knowledge base of college programs, services and other activities, to assist students and the public.
- Assist students with navigating the College website and all aspects of the student portal.
- Collect, review, and verify incoming documents for completeness and accuracy, and scan/store documents according to established Federal, State and College requirements.st students
- Assess various student situations and determine the cause, effect, and corrective measures required to remedy student situations supported by policy, compliance, and with the goal of
- student success.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED or the equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
- Three years of progressively responsible clerical, retail, or customer service work that includes at least two years of cashiering experience.
- Knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar and conventional styles and formats used in office communications.
- Knowledge of College/unit policies and procedures as well as standard office practices, including cashiering procedures, and clerical accounting procedures as applied to the receipt and posting of payments.
- Principles and procedures of customer service.
- Communicate and work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, basic mathematical computation skills, attention to detail, understanding of student accounts, and analytical skills.
- Experience in a banking setting.
- Experience in a high-volume environment.
Hiring Range Salary range: $20.04 - $30.06/hourly. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range ($20.04 - $25.05/hourly), based on experience and internal equity. Please include a complete resume including all relevant and related work experience.
