Content Manager

Job Description

Johns Hopkins University is looking for a versatile and enthusiastic Content Manager to help lead a robust storytelling and web content operation at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center in Washinton, DC. The Content Manager plays a lead role in the creation and curation of content for the Hopkins Bloomberg Center (HBC) website and other digital platforms, ensuring that the editorial vision is executed, editorial processes are followed, and strategic objectives are met.

The Content Manager works daily with the Hopkins Bloomberg Center director of communications, the social media and marketing manager, the multimedia manager and the audience engagement manager to plan, promote, execute, and report on key events taking place at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center as well as raising the visibility of Hopkins research and expertise for policymakers and other targeted audiences. This includes researching and evaluating story ideas from all divisions of the university, editing and writing features, news items, and other stories when appropriate; and collaborating with writers and graphic designers and others.

The Content Manager must be adept at translating complex information into concise and compelling content for lay people and skilled at developing content and channel strategies to engage a diverse range of audiences. Candidates should bring a deep understanding of editorial, digital, and content strategy and keep abreast of new and emerging trends in news delivery and audience engagement. The ideal candidate is both a thinker and a doer who is hands-on with day-to-day responsibilities while also managing a larger vision and priorities, and a leader who can work effectively with internal and external stakeholders and partners, guide staff members and faculty, and manage complex projects to completion.
