Job Summary

C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at Michigan Medicine supports the care and treatment of patients in the Pediatric Orthopedic and Neurosurgery Clinics with a wide variety of specialty care needs. The multitude of clinics and programs within hospital share a common philosophy of caring for the whole child (and person) which not only includes excellent medical care but an accompanying regard for the mental health and well-being of our patients and the families who love them. Psychosocial care is an indispensable component in the overall clinical care of these complex patients.

This .6  FTE Social Work (MSW) position will be responsible for two large clinics within the Clinics Division.  The families and patients with an orthopedic or neurosurgery diagnosis often have intense ongoing psychosocial needs and multiple barriers to care. Additionally, data confirm the prevalence of mental health needs among patients and their caregivers.

Work Schedule

This is a 24 hour/week position. The typical schedule will fall on three days between Monday-Friday with start and end times 8:00-4:30 or 8:30-5:00.

Underfill Statement

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Advancement through the career ladder at the Expert or Clinical Scholar Level is required for placement in the MSW Senior Classification.

This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
