Research Data Coordinator

Job Description

The Research Development Team (RDT) within the office of the Vice Provost for Research (VPR) is seeking a Research Data Coordinator. The Research Data Coordinator will be responsible for the organization, entry, maintenance and accuracy of all data for complex and detailed training grant applications. They will work directly with the Grants & Contracts Manager as well as various Principal Investigators (PIs) to develop, update, and submit training grant application tables, primarily to the NIH, for all divisions of Johns Hopkins University.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works on complex training grant applications which require a high level of knowledge, coordination, and attention to detail.
  • Collaborates closely with investigators, project managers, and other team leadership to ensure that data are presented accurately.
  • Identifies and uses public open data sources and other research data sources.
  • Meets regularly with Principal Investigators and other study team members to review data accuracy.
  • Helps collect trainee research progress statements, publications, and awards.
  • May contact program alumni to determine current position, funding, and publication information.
  • Manages datasets, including identifying potential problems with data and collaborating with research teams to resolve issues encountered.
  • Maintains data and publication repositories.
  • Enters data tables via xTRACT.
  • Cleans and combines data from internal and external sources.
  • Develops and implements data quality assurance procedures to ensure validity and reliability of data.
  • Performs routine administrative tasks, including document management.
  • Maintains detailed reports of hours worked on all projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing required.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating and submitting federal grants.
  • Experience working in higher education.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $23.75 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
